Southwest Recovery - Payday Loan Collection Scam

Washington consumers are being contacted at their home and work telephone numbers regarding payday loans made sometime in the past by Ace Cash Express that defaulted and were sold to collections.

No affiliation between Ace Cash Express and the scam collection activities has been identified.

The representatives of Southwest Recovery aka Rick Williams make numerous and repeated harassing telephone contacts with the consumer, threatening legal action unless the consumer pays the requested fees.

Consumers have reported that the caller has identifying information such as the check number used in the payday loan transaction that defaulted, the date of the payday loan that defaulted, checking account information, social security information, and other nonpublic personal information.

Consumers have reported that Southwest Recovery aka Rick Williams is tied to telephone number of 214-628-8525. This telephone number is operational and the man who answers will not identify himself to the Department. The telephone number has been associated with parties residing in Missouri and Texas. Southwest Recovery aka Rick Williams is not licensed by the Department of Financial Institutions as a payday lender or check casher or seller in Washington State.

Southwest Recovery aka Rick Williams is not registered with either the Washington State Department of Revenue or the Office of the Secretary of State to do business in Washington.
