Meet the Team

Leslie Lum has served as Director of Corporate Development for Primerica (now part of Citigroup), working on the company's restructure of financial services, which included acquisition of insurance, fund management, and brokerage companies. She was an officer at HSBC, one of the largest global banks, and manager of an audit department named one of the ten best in America. Ms. Lum has an MBA from Columbia University and an MSW from the University of British Columbia. For the past eight years, she has taught investing at BCC. Her web and print book Personal Investing, which uses the tenets of behavioral finance to teach saving and investing, was published by South-Western in 2002. To accelerate wealth creation in minority communities, Ms. Lum wrote a textbook on multicultural entrepreneurship with Thad Spratlen and Michael Verchot of the University of Washington. Ms. Lum' s course on multicultural consulting, which links student teams with underserved businesses, won a 2004 national award from the Community College National Center for Community Engagement.

Molly Blume is faculty in the Business Division of BCC. She has extensive industry experience working for Seafirst Bank (now part of Bank of America) as Assistant Vice President and Senior Marketing Officer for Personal Banking, Product Development and Management in Seattle. She lead product development teams for the Bank's consumer investment products involving research, strategic planning, advertising, profitability analysis, operation and procedures, IT systems and branch sales training. Ms. Blume has done marketing research for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle on Home Equity Lines of Credit and Old National Bank (Fidelity Mutual Savings Bank). She worked for major Fortune 500 companies as Marketing Manager and Sales Representative.  She lectured at University of Puget Sound, Bank Administration Institute, Seattle Ad Club, and Eastern Washington University. She published several articles including "IRA Choices - Sales, Marketing and the Competition," in Sales and Marketing Update plus the IRA Training Manual and Tax-Deferred Annuity Product Manual for Seafirst Bank. She has served on several boards including: American Marketing Association, Sales and Marketing Executives and United Way Allocation Panel. She holds diplomas from: Northwest Intermediate Banking School; Eastern Washington University, MBA; and Washington State University, BA.

Alice Jenkins is faculty in the Business Division of Bellevue Community College. She has been a successful real estate professional with over 27 years in the industry. She was founder and CEO of Faith Property Management and was a second lieutenant in the US Army. She has worked for Cox and Gracia Accounting firm as well as the Internal Revenue Service. She is currently a Real Estate Consultant with John L Scott Real Estate. She coordinates and organize events and does motivational speaking. Alice is active in developing curriculum for seventy churches in the Pacific Northwest and is involved in several community organizations. She holds a BA in accounting, a Masters in Family Counseling and a Doctorate in Ministry.

Debra Griggs spent nearly 20 years in the banking industry before joining the faculty of Bellevue Community College in 1996. Her career includes branch operations, auditing, commercial lending, technical support, personnel, and training. She served as the Area Operations Manager for both the Tacoma/Pierce County and the Snohomish County areas for Old National Bank and as Vice President and Manager of the Information Technology and Training Department for Washington Corporate Banking at U.S. Bank. Ms. Griggs has held the presidency of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Puget Sound Chapter and was a board member of the American Institute of Banking. She holds several banking diplomas, a BA from the University of Puget Sound, and an MBA from City University. In addition to a broad range of classes at BCC, Ms. Griggs has taught banking classes at U.S. Bank and the American Institute of Banking and business classes at City University's Trencin, Slovakia campus. She has won the Margin of Excellence award for exemplary performance at BCC.
