FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
DFI Joins Jump$tart Washington And Federal Reserve Bank Of San Francisco To Host Five Regional Financial Education Forums
Successful kick-off event in Spokane exemplifies the power of partnership - bringing financial education professionals together to find creative ways to combine efforts for more effective outreach
Olympia – The Washington State Department of Financial Institutions is pleased to join the Jump$tart Washington Coalition and Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in hosting five regional financial education forums throughout Washington: Spokane, Yakima, Kelso, Tukwila and Everett.
The forums offer an opportunity for financial education professionals to discover ways of working together for more effective outreach — using already existing resources, knowledge and strengths of multiple organizations to enhance financial education outreach efforts and avoid duplication and miscommunication.
The forums will:
- Provide information on how Jump$tart Washington and its key partners can benefit your organization.
- Bring together local financial educators and leaders who are working to promote, enhance and improve financial education in Washington.
- Offer discussion of current financial education projects underway – particularly for Washington’s families, youth and young adults.
- Encourage development of potential strategic partnerships and resources from local, state and federal organizations.
Larger than expected participation at the Nov. 19 kick-off forum in Spokane resulted in strong networking, partnership development and planning for a large community financial education event for youth, adults and families, tentatively slated for fall 2011. Similar outcomes are anticipated for the remaining four forums.
Educators, non-profit organizations, financial institutions and others working to provide financial education to Washington residents — especially youth — are invited to register for these free events: http://www.frbsf.org/community/resources/2010/1119-Jump$tart-Washington-Financial-Education-Forums/index.html
Upcoming forums will be from 8:30 – 11 a.m. A light breakfast will be provided.
