Division of Consumer Services
The mission of the Division of Consumer Services is to protect consumers from illegal and fraudulent lending practices. The division accomplishes its mission through licensing, conducting examinations of the books and records of licensees, investigating consumer complaints, and enforcing selected state and federal statutes and rules relating to lending practices.

- Winter 2012 Newsletter
DFI's Division of Consumer Services' Winter 2012 newsletter is now available. -
Changes to Filing Consumer Loan Annual Reports
There is a change this year for Consumer Loan licensees filing the Consumer Loan Annual Reports. In addition to filing the Annual Assessment Report (AAR) and the Consolidated Annual Report (CAR), Consumer Loan licensees must also file their Q4 Mortgage Call Report through the NMLS. The deadline to file the Mortgage Call Report is February 14, 2012. The deadline to file the annual reports is March 1, 2012. -
Changes to Filing Mortgage Broker Annual Report
In an effort to eliminate duplicate filings, DFI will accept fourth quarter Mortgage Call Report data in lieu of the 2011 Mortgage Broker Annual Report. The Q4 filing deadline is quickly approaching. The deadline to file is February 14, 2012. - 2010 Payday Lending Report Now Available
The 2010 Payday Lending Report is now available. DFI created this report as an educational tool for policy makers and other interested parties. The statistics presented in this report represent data reported to DFI from all payday lending licensees for calendar year 2010. - DFI Receives CSBS Certificates of Accreditation
The Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) and the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR) announced that DFI has received certificates of accreditation for both their bank and mortgage regulatory programs. These accreditations certify that Washington DFI maintains the standards and practices in state banking and mortgage supervision set by the CSBS Accreditation Program and the CSBS and AARMR Mortgage Accreditation Program. - Loan Modifications - License Required
