Renewal Steps
Follow this step to submit a renewal request for Consumer Loan License(s):
-
Attestation And Renewal Submission
Log into your NMLS account and attest to your record. Once your record is attested to, a renewal request can be submitted in the NMLS. This involves paying the NMLS system fees via credit card or ACH. -
Updated License
Once DFI approves your renewal request, you will be emailed an updated license. We are reissuing all Consumer Loan licenses this year due to a change in license numbers. Effective January 2010, DFI will use the location’s NMLS number as its license number, replacing the old 520-CL-XXXXX format.

Tips for a Successful Renewal
-
Know Your NMLS User Name And Password
In order to submit your renewal request via the NMLS, you must have your user name and password available. If you do not know your user name and/or password, contact the NMLS Call Center at (240) 386-4444. -
Ensure Your NMLS Record Is Up To Date, Especially Your Email Address
Most communication about licenses is done via the person listed as Contact Employee on the MU1 or the email address listed on the MU1. If that person or email address is not current, you may miss critical information regarding your license(s).

For each location you are closing, you must submit a surrender request via the NMLS. If you are closing the company license, you must also complete the Closure Annual Report & Assessment.
Who can help if I forgot my password to the NMLS?
If you are an individual and you know your user name, there is a “Forgot Password” option on the NMLS login screen. If you do not know your user name, you must contact the NMLS Call Center. You can reach them at (240) 386-4444.
