How To Apply For A Loan Originator License
DFI uses the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) for all Loan Originator Licenses. All Loan Originator applications must be submitted through the NMLS. Learn more about the NMLS.

If You Are Registered With The NMLS

- Review Washington’s Mortgage Broker Laws & Rules.
- Review and follow our Loan Originator Jurisdiction Specific Requirements (PDF)*.
- Log into your NMLS account.
- Add Washington to your License/Registration section of Form MU4.
- Ensure the company you work for in Washington has access to sponsor your license.
- Submit the application to Washington by paying the applicable fees.
- Mail the required Loan Originator Jurisdiction Specific Requirements (PDF)* to DFI.
- Ensure your company submits a Sponsorship Request in the NMLS for your license.

About The NMLS
DFI uses the NMLS for all Mortgage Broker, Consumer Loan and Loan Originator licenses. The NMLS was developed by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators. The goal of the NMLS is to streamline and improve the licensing process for companies, branches, and individuals that hold licenses in multiple states. Learn more about the NMLS.
