Legislative Update
The following bills modifying consumer services programs passed the Washington State Legislature in 2011 and were signed into law:

Senate Bill 5076 (Chapter 93, 2011 Laws)
Allows DFI to apply for and obtain a superior court order authorizing a subpoena. The department’s application for the subpoena must specify the documents and materials related to its investigation.

House Bill 1191 (Chapter 129, 2011 Laws)
The Mortgage Lending Fraud Prosecution Account is reauthorized until June 30, 2016.

House Bill 1405 (Chapter 191, 2011 Laws)
Lenders that provide commercial, business or agricultural loans secured by the borrower’s primary residence are subject to the provisions of the Consumer Loan Act.
