Message from Deb Bortner, Director of Consumer Services:
Well, we made it through the holidays and license renewal. I am happy to say that the vast majority of you made it through without a hitch. My sincere thanks to all of you.
My message for next year is to get your continuing education done early and renew during the renewal window from November 1st to December 15th. I am always amazed that we have some companies and individuals who wake up on the last few days of December and remember there was something they had to do before the end of the year. Oh yeah, "I have to renew my license..."
Another suggestion, if you do decide to renew between December 15th and December 30th, use your credit card. If you pay by ACH, it takes 6 or 7 days to clear; Credit cards fund immediately.
While we do not guarantee an on-time renewal for anyone who files after December 15th, at least you give yourself a chance.
Several companies asked us to waive the ACH delay. While I did end up authorizing several companies to close one loan during that period, I did so in order to protect the consumers with expiring rate locks. Filing on or before December 15th will avoid any problems.
