In Military Saves Week |
DFI reaches out to thousands of Washington residents each
year by participating in a number community events. We hand
out information at fairs, festivals, and special events.
We give presentations
and can help bring in additional financial education partners for

Special Events & Campaigns
DFI will be participating in Washington/America Saves Week and Financial Literacy Month in 2009.
Washington/America Saves Week
(February 22 - March 1, 2009)
During America and Washington Saves Week, individuals will be
encouraged to assess their savings strategies and take action
to advance their progress. DFI takes part in activities and outreach
events during America Saves Week and works with a number of
organizations to support and create buzz about saving.
Financial Literacy Month
(April 2009)
Each year, DFI partners with organizations across Washington to celebrate financial literacy month. DFI works with the Governor , public and private organizations, and the media to illustrate the importance of making smart money management decisions.

America Saves Week 2007

Classroom Programs & Outreach
DFI has a number of financial education programs in Washington's
schools.

High School Teacher Trainings
DFI is offering high school teacher trainings across the state. We visit schools, conferences, and events to conduct teacher trainings that are informative for educators personally and offer ideas on how to incorporate financial education into the classroom.

Debt Slapped DVD
DFI partnered with CENTS to create an educational DVD that helps college age students that debt can affect their lives now and in the future.

College "Get Smart About Your Money" Events
DFI has been teaming up with organizations to bring financial literacy events to college campuses throughout Washington State.

Financial Education At BCC
Bellevue Community College (BCC) has received a grant from the Investor Protection Trust to develop classes that teach the basics of saving and investing. BCC is the first community college to receive such a grant and will be a model for the rest of the nation.
