About Washington Saves Week

Governor Inslee has proclaimed (pdf) the week of February 25 - March 2, 2013, as Washington Saves Week. Washington Saves Week is a part of the America Saves Week campaign coordinated by America Saves and the America Savings Education Council. Started in 2007, the Week is an annual opportunity for organizations to promote good savings behavior and a chance for individuals to assess their own saving status. Across the country, over hundreds of organizations participate in the Week reaching millions of people. The Washington State Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) is a proud supporter of Washington Saves Week and encourages all Washington residents to review their savings strategies and to learn more about resources and programs available to them in their community.

Review Your Savings Plans

We're encouraging you to take time during Washington Saves Week to review your savings plans and align the plans with your financial goals. Goals, wants, and needs change every year. Review your plans to make sure they are up to date and are helping you reach your financial goals.

Take Advantage of Free Resources

There are many free resources out there. Take advantage of them.

In your own community, organizations are offering free financial education classes to help teach you smart money management skills. Your local asset building coalition is also available to help you learn more about the Earned Income Tax Credit and other programs available to you.
